The Chamber hosts many events throughout the year to provide promotional and networking opportunities, educational and leadership experiences, and to facilitate the coming together of our region's business community. Examples of these Chamber-hosted events are:
In collaboration with our neighbouring Chambers of Commerce, we offer a series of workshops and seminars that will assist our members in the day-to-day running and marketing of their businesses. Some of these workshops are complimentary; others require a fee to be paid. In the latter case, while all are welcome to attend, there is a reduced admission for Chamber of Commerce members to take in these workshops and seminars. Fee may or may not be attached.
Every two months, (alternating with the Business Breakfasts), our membership is invited to attend a local business whose owner has stepped forward offering to host the social event at their establishment. The Social is usually 60 to 90 minutes long and a beverage and/or light refreshment is offered to guests. Again, this is a wonderful opportunity to network with other chamber members and to learn more about other businesses in our region. Complimentary.
Many Chambers in the Province have monthly or bi-monthly Chamber Luncheons. We choose to offer Chamber Breakfasts instead as we find that our members are able to attend more regularly if the gathering isn't right in the middle of their busy day. Every two months (alternating with the After Five Business Socials), we will host a breakfast at a local establishment. Part of the breakfast meeting will include a 20 to 30 minute presentation by a keynote speaker. Fee attached.
The South Shuswap Chamber of Commerce cannot be funded through membership fees alone, therefore fundraising events are held throughout the year to support the work that we do. The next event to be held is the South Shuswap Chamber Golf Tournament in late May, 2015. Stay tuned for details !
All of our events are widely promoted and advertised in the media and in our monthly Chamber Newsletter. As a Chamber member, you will receive this newsletter emailed to you each month, giving you ample time to register for any of these events.
If you would like to host an After Five Social or Business Breakfast at your business, or have a topic that you'd like to see discussed at a breakfast meeting or taught at a workshop or seminar, we welcome your input. Please call Karen at 250.515.0002 to discuss.
