The South Shuswap region has long been known as "The Heart of the Shuswap" and offers a relaxed lifestyle with a great variety of recreational choices and accommodation properties. The area is conveniently located on Highway No. 1 along the southern shores of Shuswap Lake with magnificent mountain vistas and stunning views of the lake.
The area offers great dining, culture, scenic viewscapes, specialty hobby & traditional farms and a large artisan community. The region is also home to four or five fantastic wineries and breweries.
The South Shuswap is vast and each of its communities are
unique in character:
Some of these areas are rich in history while others are fairly new settlements. Notch Hill, for example, boasts preserved buildings depicting the area's history as a railway stop. Sorrento is located on Highway 1 and offers all the amenities and services you may need to ensure your visit is comfortable and enjoyable. In Blind Bay, you can visit the Blind Bay Marketplace or enjoy a round of golf at Shuswap Lake Estates Golf Course. In Sunnybrae, walk the short trail through tall trees and cliffs to enchanting Margaret Falls where 200 feet of water cascades into Reinecker Creek. White Lake provides visitors with all-season fishing experience ~ trout fishing and flyfishing from Spring to Fall and ice fishing in Winter. One can enjoy the equestrian trails at Skimikin Lake and camp on its peaceful shores. And travelling out to Eagle Bay by vehicle or by water will reward one with some of the lake's peace and tranquility.
