The area boasts a burgeoning arts and cultural scene, offering great dining, live music and a large artisan community. Take in the breathtaking viewscapes, multi-use trail system and fabulous beaches. The region is also home to three fantastic wineries and breweries.

The South Shuswap is vast and each of its communities are unique in character:

Blind Bay

Notch Hill

Skimikin Lake

Eagle Bay

White Lake

Some of these areas are rich in history while others are fairly new settlements. Notch Hill, for example, boasts preserved buildings depicting the area’s history as a railway stop. Sorrento is located on Highway 1 and offers all the amenities and services you may need to ensure your visit is comfortable and enjoyable. The Sorrento Farmers Market located right in the heart of Sorrento on Saturday mornings from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon (May long weekend to Thanksgiving weekend) is one of the best in the province.

The Shuswap Artisan Market open Thursday – Sunday is just across the street. In Blind Bay, you can shop at the Blind Bay Marketplace Mall or enjoy a round of golf at Shuswap Lake Estates Golf Course. The waterfront dining there is not to be missed AND every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 on the Blind Bay waterfront, take in the complimentary live concerts at Music in the Bay. In Sunnybrae, walk the short trail through tall trees and cliffs to enchanting Margaret Falls where 200 feet of water cascades into Reinecker Creek.

White Lake provides visitors with all-season fishing experiences ~ trout fishing and fly-fishing from Spring to Fall and ice fishing in Winter. One can enjoy the equestrian trails at Skimikin Lake and camp on its peaceful shores. And travelling out to Eagle Bay by vehicle or by water will reward one with some of the lake’s peace and tranquility.
